Playing Hockey

Community and competition

I started playing hockey when I was 10 years old. I started playing because one of our family friends runs a hockey team for people with disabilities. He encouraged me to join and said that he would teach me how to play hockey and I could help with the team. I started and it was the best decision I ever made. It's my favorite sport and the community around it is one of my favorite parts.

Learning the lane

I've always enjoyed the sport of bowling. As an undersized guy, it was one of the few sports where size isn't as much of a factor. I really got into bowling in high school when I took a bowling class. I improved greatly throughout the class and got my own bowling ball drilled. After a few years, I decided to switch to bowling two handed. From there, I really got into the game learning about how to play the lane, different types of bowling balls, and strategies.

Exploring technology

About 8 years ago, after being a lifetime Windows user, I decided to install Ubuntu on my laptop and try using it as a daily driver. I kept Windows on a separate partition but I rarely ever used it. It was one of my favorite times using computers because everything was new again. On Windows, I already knew how to do most things but on Linux, I was just getting started. From there, I've used many different Linux distributions and still run Linux distros on all of the computers.
